As FE continues to enter new markets, we sat down with FE Sweden's Country Manager to learn more about her background and hear her thoughts on everything from growth to company culture. Watch the video interview here.
Hi Rebecca! You recently joined FE as a Country Manager at our office in Stockholm. Would you mind telling us a little bit about your background and what drove you to make the career change?
Prior to joining FE, I worked within Management Consulting for 5 years. As a consultant, I supported clients on their commercial side of the business as well as their operations and digital transformation. I have been working with everything from strategy, design, business model transformation, sustainability, and digitalization.
I really enjoyed my time as a consultant but ultimately decided to make a career change as I was keen to take on a new challenge. I also wanted to have a bigger impact and join a growth journey. So, when the Country Manager opportunity popped up - I just knew I had to take it.
How do you feel that your previous experience has prepared you to take on challenges you may face as a Country Manager?
I believe that management consulting has prepared me well for being able to build and manage the FE branch in Sweden. Having a broad background is an advantage in the start-up phase as the tasks appear very different. In addition, I am comfortable in the advisory role and handling customer dialogues, which is just as important in the recruitment industry as management consulting. I have also developed leadership qualities that are important as we aim to grow quickly and build a large team. In addition, the nature of this business is similar to management consulting as both are project-based, and I have a lot of experience from project management.
It’s great that you feel prepared to take your new role head-on. Now that you are about a month in, can you tell us more about how your first few weeks have been?
My first month is coming to a close and I can really feel that it was a great decision to join as the last few weeks have been great! Over the last few weeks, I have gained experience with such an inspiring and innovative company with talented and passionate people. FE really lives its values. Also, the warm culture is really unique and it made me feel that I was a part of the FE family even before day 1. I am so excited for this journey moving forward!
How do you think that this culture will shape the FE Sweden journey moving forward?
I have felt trust from the co-founders and partners from the very start and the level of ownership yet guidance has made me grow a lot already. It’s this combination of trust and guidance that really highlights the fact that FE Sweden really has the best of two worlds - on the one hand, we have the backing of the global FE company in terms of industry knowledge, financial stability, great reference cases, and an established culture. But on the other hand, we have a lot of freedom to shape the Swedish office since we are working from a blank slate. We are already kicking off projects and working on building a warm and stimulating company culture capable of attracting the very best talent!
Can you elaborate on how you think that this “best of both worlds” mentality impacts some of the short-term goals that you have for FE Sweden?
FE Sweden has ambitious goals and hopefully a steep growth journey in front of us. Some short-term implications of this best of the “both worlds” perspective is that we are already bringing in cool clients and are able to ramp up internal hiring right from the start. At the moment, we are hiring 3 additional people to join our team and within a year, we aim to be a team of 10-15.
We are also able to leverage our network to partner up with innovative and inspiring clients such as Zaptech and Questback to help them reach their hiring goals.
In order to reach these goals, we need to deliver a best-in-class service creating value for our clients, candidates, and employees alike, which I believe will be possible with the backing of FE global and the ambition of the Swedish team.
And how do you feel that these short-term initiatives and company culture will shape the long-term direction of the organization?
Kicking off on exciting projects and establishing a forward-thinking and inclusive culture will help us to become the next-gen recruitment and consultancy company. We want to be the partner that clients want to work with and the employer people want to work for. Delivering a best-in-class and sustainable recruitment service while simultaneously building a diverse and innovative team, I believe that we are well on our way to reinventing how people think about tech recruitment.
Thank you for your time Rebecca! We are all excited to see where you and your team will take FE Sweden moving forward!
